Aijaz Ahmed khan, Yahindnews : Dr. Asar Khan has been appointed by the All India Congress Committee (AICC) – Foreign Affairs Department – as the President of the Indian Overseas Congress in KSA..
Dr Asar has conveyed his utmost gratefulness to the Party leadership for this trust and honour and promises to dedicate himself to the cause of the Congress Party. Dr. Asar is a dedicated congress party worker inspired by the wise leadership of Mrs. Sonia Gandhi and motivated by the dynamic personality of Mr. Rahul Gandhi. He is geared up to do all he can to serve NRIs in the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia under the supervision and patronage of Dr. Karan Singh, Chairman, Indian Overseas Congress.

The goal of IOC-KSA is to promote the ideals and ideology of the parent body the Indian National Congress – largest Democratic Party of world – amongst the Indian expatriate community living in the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia. The Indian Overseas Congress KSA aspires to achieve the following;
-To project a correct image of India, Indian civilization and culture and to help members of the NRI Community to understand the cultural, and traditional values of Saudi Arabia.
-To promote, encourage and undertake all actions, plans and programs required for the general welfare of the NRIs – economic, social and cultural.
-To provide a suitable platform for the NRIs to address the issues and hurdles faced by NRIs back home in India, through the National or State governments, relating to children education, property, resettlement opportunities and other social, cultural and economic schemes.
-To provide a suitable forum for the projection and presentation of the common problems of the NRI community relating to their work contracts and stay in Saudi Arabia through appropriate means and channels.
-To contribute to the increasing trade and business relationship of the two countries.
-To enhance, build and enrich cultural ties between the two country people.
-To provide support to the efforts of the Indian consulate in the service to the Hajis and the Haj activities in general.

Dr. Asar is a prominent Indian National, living and working in Saudi Arabia since 1996. He has held several senior positions in different organizations in the Kingdom. In the Executive Administration of King Abdulaziz University (Jeddah – KSA) he was In-Charge – External Relations, Public Relations & Media Department. He added a global outlook to the Public Relations activities at the University.
He was President – International Business Development with the A.K. Saeed Group of Companies. He coordinated to bring together various international groups for business activity and partnerships through profitable projects involving Indian, Malaysian, Chinese and Saudi business leaders. . He has personally interacted with renowned entrepreneurs and business leaders in setting up global strategic alliances. He organised and attended numerous academic and business projects and seminars across the world. Notably he is the chancellor- Farooq Hussain University (Deemed) Agra, UP India. He is the Honorary Commercial Attaché of Consulate General of the Republic of Gambia, Jeddah – KSA. He was the Member of Steering Committee governing body of Saudi-Indian Friendship Society – Constituted by Saudi Ministry of Information & Culture.

Dr Asar was also the Public Relations Officer Saudi-Indian Business Network; at the time of its inception in 2008, under the patronage of Indian Embassy – Jeddah. He was the Advisor to the President Saudi-Malaysian Friendship Society and Malaysian Saudi Business Council. He is the Patron of the Uttar Pradesh Chess Association – INDIA. He is also the patron of the internationally circulated India’s first chess features magazine, Black & White.

Dr. Asar has conveyed that he will try to bring all Congress non-official bodies working in the Kingdom under one umbrella of the official body. He intends to establish Overseas Congress Chapters in prominent cities of Kingdom shortly.
